Remember your why
When you feel discouraged or when you feel like quitting, remember why you started in the first place.
This passage reminded me of why I started writing:
“Be watchful and diligent in God’s service and often think of why you left the world… Was it not that you might live for God … ?”
— Thomas à Kempis, The Imitation of Christ
I started writing because I wanted to serve God full-time. But there are days when I feel I’m still so far away from my dream and get discouraged.
But remembering the reason why I started drove me to keep going. More importantly, I realized that it should not even be about serving God full-time. It should be about serving God. Period. I’ll keep writing even if it never becomes a full-time thing.
